Your hosts

In 1953, Johann and Karolina Entner laid the foundation stone for today's 4-star hotel. After Toni and Gerti, Florian Entner is now the third generation at the helm ... and with Emily, Jennifer and Anthony, the successors are already in place at the Liebes Caroline.

The Florian Entner family and the team of Liebes Caroline warmly welcome you.

Our history

The history of the Hotel Caroline is closely linked to that of the Wiesenhof and the Hotel Pfandler. After the First World War, the childless old owners of today's Wiesenhof (then called "beim Bauern") offered to buy the farm from their neighbour at Gasthof Pfandler, Theresia Entner.

As the basic farming laws in Tyrol did not allow the two farms to be united, her eldest son Johann Entner took over the Wiesenhof and ran it with his wife Karolina, renting out guest rooms in summer to the many guests who came to Pertisau for a "summer holiday" until the "1000 Mark Blockade" put an end to all tourism from the German Empire. Towards the end of the Second World War, war refugees from East Prussia were given shelter.

In the first post-war years, holiday guests soon returned to Pertisau, some of them even former occupying soldiers. But the "German economic miracle" also made more frequent holiday trips to the mountains possible again. In 1953/54, Johann and Karolina Entner built a new house to accommodate more holiday guests - but also to have a shed for the tractor and new equipment: the "Villa Entner".

After the death of Johann Entner due to a serious illness, which he had contracted during the great wind disaster on 9 December 1954, Karolina Entner ran the farm and guesthouse with the active support of her children until she handed over the Wiesenhof to her son Hans Entner in 1964. She continued to run the guesthouse on her own. Lifts and cross-country ski trails - but above all the beautiful winter landscape - meant that guests were also accommodated in winter from 1967.

From 1977, Gertrude and Anton Entner finally took over the business, which they renamed "Hotel Caroline" in honour of their mother's work. In 1979, the hotel was extended and converted into a modern 48-bed hotel with comfortable rooms, reception, café/bar, hall, lift, terrace etc. Further conversions and modernisations followed over the years. The garden area is also redesigned and extended to include a heated swimming pool, sunbathing lawn and large playground.

Where you are welcome, everyone likes to grow old. And the best thing about it is that you stay so wonderfully young. - Franz X. Bühler

Father and son work together to build the "Caroline Express", our nostalgic garden railway to ride on, a one-off. Gertrude Entner receives numerous awards for the magnificent floral decorations at the hotel.

In 2002, the bathing corridor was created and formerly used to shared use of the magnificent vitality and wellness area in the Hotel Wiesenhof. Today, this corridor still serves as a connection to the wellness reception (1st floor) in the Wiesenhof, so that you can get to your booked treatments easily without having to go outside.

Since 2003, in addition to Gerti Entner, her son Florian and his family have brought new vigour and creative ideas to the business.

In 2005, the Hotel Caroline was awarded 4 stars for its exquisite facilities.

In 2009, Gerti and Toni Entner hand over the reins to Florian Entner and his family - daughters Emily (2006) and Jennifer (2008). In 2016, son Anthony is born.

Hotel Caroline gets 16 new bathrooms in 2010.
